Tips to Keep The Kids Busy

If you are like me, you have a kid who wants your attention. EVERY SINGLE SECOND OF THE DAY

Since the new normal is having the kiddo at home it has been a different daily routine that our family has experienced. Every day is different in our house and we have been trying to implement routines that help us all stay busy and also get the time we need to get our work done, keep our house clean, keep everyone fed + still have some time to just enjoy each others company!

We decided to print out on computer paper a timeline of our Monday - Friday schedule to help keep us all on track! Our day starts with breakfast + some downtime (aka coffee for mom and dad) then we give Addie her school lessons for the day. We included break times, snack times, play times, tv times, reading, dancing, outdoor recess, chores + daily routines to the T. So far it has helped us to follow somewhat of a plan so that we don’t fall behind on any of her schoolwork! Most kids have a lot of school work to do right now + I think that is fantastic to keep their brains entertained and excited about learning! But what do we do for the rest of the day and night that the kids are stuck inside and cannot go anywhere or see friends?

I want to share some tips with you guys to keep the kids busy!

> Have them make a video of themselves saying hello to their friends! — Addie has a really cool app that has all of her class schedule and tasks for during the day! We log onto it daily and she gets to talk to her teacher and see what the plan is for the week! We can also share videos which I think is so awesome! —This week she is making a little video to share with her classmates! I think that is such a cool idea + even if they have some friends they want to do a zoom call with, right now The owner of Zoom is making up to 40 minutes FREE for people who have to work from home, so we can all take advantage of this! You can download the app here!

> Rearrange their room! Make a fort! — SO FUN! We did that this weekend + then had a play dough mom + Addie date on sunday night. It was perfect!

> OUTDOOR RECESS — Game changer people. Game Changer. We live in the country so it is easy for us to get outside and play ball or tag, etc. That might not be the case for everyone but even going for a walk or bike ride helps their mind release those endorphins and help their minds settle a little so they aren’t going stir crazy!

> Create a “cooking show” in the kitchen where you make cookies or bake a cake! From experience, Addie ADORES anything that has to do with a cooking show or pretending to be a “VLOGGER” (in her words)! Setting up a place for them to feel like they are in control will allow them to use their imagination and honestly it’s just a really fun time!

> Make homemade pictures! We did this the other day and they were fun! All you need is markers + paper! You can find the link here! Share your pictures + tag me! @allyson.elise on instagram!

Try these out with the kids next time you aren’t sure what to do! Remember we are in this together + we are here to help one another! Anything I can do to help ease the day with the kids at home, I am here!!!

Until next time!

xo!
